The Itty Bitty series are about friendship, showing others you care and much more.

After reading the book, she talked about charactertraits, cause and effect, sequencing, text to self connections and followed it up by relating the scenarios to real life experiences for the students and how they could deal with bullying.

…I had the pleasure to observe Mrs. Catherine Follestad present her new book with all the illustrations to a group of kindergarten students. Catherin carefully read the story she authored and showed the marvellous artwork of the story to the students. The students were curious and attentive, asking many questions about the story.

Character education is an important component of our school’s curriculum and the class immediately became aware of the main point of the story and could recognize and verbalize the value of friendship and how one can make friends by being brave and loyal. In my opinion, this is an excellent example of a book that uses interesting words, a delightful rhyming pattern and a strong statement capturing how to best make friends. We all enjoyed the reading and were particularly impressed with the exceptional artwork. This is a great story that needs to be published and available to young children.

A delightful tale by debut author, Catherine Follestad! Itty Bitty tugs at the heartstrings from page one as she peers at the reader from inside a shoe. Young children are sure to love this adventure story which manages to communicate truth about friendship, loyalty, and helpfulness while at the sime time providing an entertaining story. After all: Who can possibly resist an adorable wide-eyed kitty like Itty Bitty?! I’m looking forward to the next children’s book by Catherine!

The little kitty reveals to us that who we really are, is what’s in our hearts, not what size we are. She quickly teaches the other big cats that kindness, persistence, determination and loyality are the true gifts of friendship. The values in this book are invaluable for teaching good character traits, tolerance and the need for true friends. I highly recommend this book to parents and educators who want to instill these values in their children at a young age. Some of the best things in life still come in “little packages”.
